ADVANCED MANIPULATIONS
Spot Toning and Painting

If you feel an opened (during or after processing) image is thin in color or it needs some color correction, you can simply spot tone it as you would a regular photograph or you can paint it as though it were canvas, however, instead of using toner, which has a very limited pallet of colors, water-based paints are used.

Spot toning and painting can enhance the quality of any image, but it should be done with care as it is very difficult to correct any mistakes made. I also recommend thinner color mixtures, as it is easier to build color than it is to remove it. Please note that the transparency cannot absorb paint but the chemistry on the image-receiving layer can. For coloring or painting the transparency directly on either side, markers or thicker mixtures of water-based paints should be used.
