Spot Toning and Painting: The Negative Side of Transparency

What you will need:
  1. Make sure the image is fully dried and completely free of residue if you have bleached it.
  2. Prepare your paints and have a rinse wash available.
  3. Attach the transparency, negative side up, to the fiberboard
  4. Using the paintbrush apply the paint to the negative side of the transparency starting in the biggest area you wish to paint first. Repeat as necessary.
  5. When you are finished, leave the image attached to the board and allow it to dry for 2-6 hours.

Troubleshooting:

The paints aren't bonding to the transparency.
Make sure you haven't over-thinned the paint. Too much water in the mixture and the paint will be too thin to bond to the transparency.

The paint isn't being absorbed by the chemistry anymore.
The chemistry is fully saturated. Allow it to dry for 30 minutes. If the chemistry still will not take the paint, then the chemistry may be too thin. There is no way to correct this.
