Spot Toning and Painting:
The Negative
What you will need:
- Latex or polyurethane gloves
- Surgical mask
- Water-based paints
- Mixing cups
- Tap water
- A fiberboard
- Clips or masking tape
- Size 02 to 0000 spotting paintbrushes
- Make sure the image is fully dried.
- Prepare your paints and have rinse water available.
- Attach the Negative to the fiberboard. Apply the paint with the paintbrush to a small area of detail by gently touching the brush to the surface. Repeat as necessary.
- When you are finished, leave the image clipped to the board and allow it to dry.
Troubleshooting:
The paint bled outside of the area I applied it.
Too much paint was used. Allow the image to dry for 30 minutes and bleach the areas that need correction (see Bleaching the Negative) and try again. Also, make sure your paint mixture isn't too thin.br>
